Water pipes, bubblers and hand pipes in the glass cases at Prestige Smoke Shop on SE 29th Street. We take every piece out so you can check it before you buy.
Glass is the one category where we push back on people the most, and it is always about the same thing. A thin, cheap piece looks just like a sturdy one in a photo. In your hands it is a different story. The weight, the thickness at the base and the welds where the neck meets the body decide whether a bong lasts a month or years.
That is why every piece sits in our glass cases and we take it out for you. Pick it up. Feel the weight. Look at the joint. We would rather sell you a sturdier piece that costs a little more than a cheap one that cracks the first time it tips over on the coffee table.
We carry bongs, bubblers and hand pipes at 4715 SE 29th St, a quick drive from Epperly Heights and Oklahoma City.

A beaker has a wide, flared base that holds more water and sits steady. A straight tube is easier to clean and pulls fast and direct. If your piece lives on a table that gets bumped, the beaker is the better bet.
Look at the base and the walls. Thicker borosilicate glass handles bumps and temperature swings far better. A light tap with a fingernail tells you a lot about thin versus thick glass.
A percolator adds water chambers that cool and smooth each hit. They look great, but they add drag and take more effort to clean. For a first bong, a simple downstem without a perc is easier to live with.
Most bongs use a 14 mm or 18 mm joint for the bowl and downstem. Know your size before you shop for replacement parts. If you are not sure, bring the piece in and we will check it.
Tall pieces give bigger hits but tip easier and hold more water. Something around 10 to 12 inches is a solid middle ground at home. Bubblers and hand pipes make more sense if you move around.
You only need enough to cover the downstem slits by about an inch. More than that brings splashback and a harder pull.
Sudden temperature changes can crack glass. Clean with room temperature water and alcohol, never boiling water.
Buildup hardens and gets much harder to remove. A quick rinse every few days beats a big scrub once a season.
Twisting hard on a stuck joint is how necks crack. Soak the joint in warm water and alcohol, then wiggle it loose gently.
Bright colors and fancy percs do not mean better glass. Check the welds, the base and the thickness first.
When someone asks us what to buy, we ask how they will use it. Is it staying on one shelf at home, or getting moved around? Is it for one person or getting passed around a group? Those answers matter more than any feature on the tag.
We look over every piece before it goes across the counter. If we see a seam that looks weak or a joint that does not sit right, we will tell you and put it back. We would rather lose a sale than have you come back with a cracked piece.
Our honest advice for a first bong is to buy simple and sturdy. A thick beaker with a basic downstem will teach you what you like. Once you know that, a percolator piece makes a lot more sense.
We take cash, debit and all cards, and there is parking in our lot on SE 29th Street. Swing by any day between 10 AM and midnight.
Empty the water and pull out the bowl and downstem. Pour in isopropyl alcohol, 91% or higher works best, and add a spoonful of coarse salt. Cover the openings and shake for a minute or two.
Dump it, rinse with lukewarm water until the alcohol smell is gone, and let it air dry. Soak the small parts in a sealed bag with alcohol and salt. Changing the water every day or two means you will deep clean far less often.

Bongs from budget to one of a kind. Here is what our budtenders tell people.
Pay a little more for thick glass and it will survive a few bumps.
A percolator cools the smoke so it hits smoother. Ask us to show you.
Say what you want to spend and we will show you the best piece for it.
Ask us to take it out of the case. Feel the weight before you buy.
Shake isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt inside the piece, then rinse it out with lukewarm water. Soak the bowl and downstem separately. Regular water changes keep you from needing a deep clean as often.
Check the joint size, usually 14 mm or 18 mm, and whether it is male or female. The bowl needs the same size and the opposite gender. If you are unsure, bring the bong in and we will check the fit.
A bong is a larger water pipe with a removable bowl and downstem. A bubbler is a smaller handheld piece with the water chamber built in. Bubblers travel better, bongs give bigger, smoother hits.
Yes. Ask at the counter and we will take it out of the case so you can check the glass, the welds and the joint yourself.
Every day or two if you use it daily. Old water smells, tastes bad and makes the glass harder to clean.
If you want smoother, cooler hits and do not mind extra cleaning, yes. For a first piece, we usually suggest skipping it and keeping things simple.
It is a heat-resistant glass that handles temperature changes much better than ordinary glass, which is why most good bongs use it. Thickness still matters, so check the walls and the base.
