Epperly Heights is where Del City started. In 1946 a home builder named George Epperly bought 160 acres of wheat field at the corner of SE 29th Street and Sunnylane Road and started putting up houses. By 1948 about two hundred families lived there, and they voted to incorporate under a new name, Del City, after his oldest daughter.
So when people from Epperly Heights come see us, they are coming back to the corner the whole city grew out of. We are at 4715 SE 29th St, near Sunnylane. The neighborhood spreads out from there, with Epperly Heights Elementary on Del Road, and the route on this page starts from the Del City Community Center on SE 15th. It is about four minutes and a mile and a half.
