Old Towne is one of Del City's established neighborhoods, the kind with its own neighborhood watch and long-time residents who remember when things were different. It sits on the west side of town near City Hall at 3701 SE 15th Street, close to Bryant Avenue, and the route on this page starts right from City Hall.
Del City's limits are easy to remember. NE 10th Street on the north, SE 44th on the south, Bryant on the west and Sooner Road on the east. Old Towne sits toward that western edge, while we are near the middle of town on SE 29th at Sunnylane.
That makes the trip a simple square. Down Bryant, across 29th, and you are here. About six minutes, a little over two miles from the steps of City Hall.
Old Towne sits on the west side of Del City along SE 15th, so there are two ways to us: down Bryant and across SE 29th, or east on SE 15th and down Sunnylane. They take about the same time, so pick whichever is moving better. We are at 4715 SE 29th St, a few blocks east of Sunnylane, with a parking lot on site.
From City Hall, get onto S Bryant Ave and head south about a mile to SE 29th. Turn left onto 29th and keep going east about a mile, crossing Sunnylane Road at the Walgreens corner. We are a few blocks past Sunnylane at 4715 SE 29th St. About six minutes and roughly two miles. Bryant tends to move steadily, and the left onto 29th is easy off peak. Around five on a weekday you may sit through a light cycle or two before you can make it.
The Woodedge streets are part of the Old Towne neighborhood watch area. From there, drop down to SE 15th and turn east. Stay on 15th until you reach Sunnylane Road, then turn right and head south about a mile, past Del City High School. At SE 29th, get into the left lane, turn left, and go a few blocks east. Figure seven or eight minutes. On a weekday afternoon, school traffic by the high school is the one real slowdown. After dark it is an easy, steady drive.
Coming back into town on I-35, take the SE 15th St exit and head east. When you reach Bryant Avenue you are at Del City's western edge, with tiny Smith Village tucked against that corner. Turn right on Bryant and go south about a mile to SE 29th, then turn left and drive east about a mile, across Sunnylane, to 4715 SE 29th St. From the exit, plan on roughly ten minutes depending on the lights. This is the handy one if you are heading home from downtown and want to stop on the way.
If you start near SE 22nd and Bryant, on the city's west edge, this is about as direct as it gets. Head south on Bryant Avenue roughly half a mile to SE 29th and turn left. Then it is one straight road east for about 1.6 miles. Sunnylane Road comes up around the one mile mark, and Advance Auto Parts sits on the left just past it. Keep going to Vickie Drive. We are on the north side of 29th right after Vickie, at 4715. Plan on about five minutes and 2.1 miles. There is only one turn that matters on this trip, so it is a good one to send a friend who has never been out our way.
If you are coming in from the Oklahoma City side on SE 15th, you do not need to drive all the way through Old Towne. At Eastern Avenue, turn right and head south about a mile to SE 29th. Turn left and stay on 29th for about 2.6 miles. You cross Bryant Avenue into Del City, then Sunnylane Road, then pass Advance Auto Parts on the left. Watch for Vickie Drive. We are just past it on the north side of the street. About eight minutes and 3.6 miles. It is main roads the whole way with long straight stretches, so it is easy to follow after dark.
