Oklahoma City covers more than 600 square miles, and a lot of people do not realize how close Del City sits to downtown. From Scissortail Park, I-35 runs you south past the I-40 split, and the SE 29th Street exit drops you onto a road that leads straight east into Del City. About fourteen minutes, roughly seven miles.
Once you exit, you are on SE 29th for about three and a half miles, through south Oklahoma City and across Bryant Avenue, which is the western edge of Del City. Del City is its own city, separate from Oklahoma City, even though the two share long borders. From Bryant, it is about another mile to Sunnylane Road and our shop.
For a lot of city folks it is a straight shot that is easier than crossing town. No zigzag through side streets. One highway, one exit, one road.
From most of central Oklahoma City you have two good highway options: I-35 South to SE 29th, or I-40 East to Sunnylane Road. Both put you in Del City in around a quarter of an hour. We are at 4715 SE 29th St, a few blocks east of Sunnylane, with a parking lot on site.
From the park, get on I-35 South. Follow the signs to stay on 35 heading south as you pass the I-40 junction, then take the SE 29th St exit. At the end of the ramp, turn left to head east. You will be on SE 29th about three and a half miles: through south Oklahoma City, across Bryant Avenue into Del City, then past Sunnylane Road by the Walgreens. We are a few blocks beyond Sunnylane at 4715. About fourteen minutes and seven miles. Weekday rush hour can add several minutes around the interchange.
From Bricktown, I-40 East is right there. Take it east past the I-35 junction and keep going to Exit 155A, Sunnylane Road. The Reno Avenue and Scott Street exit comes just before it, which is your cue to move to the right. Off the ramp, head south on Sunnylane, cross SE 15th, and pass Del City High School. At SE 29th, turn left and go a few blocks east to the shop. Plan on fifteen minutes or so, a little longer at the evening rush, when I-40 east of downtown can crawl.
From the Capitol, take NE 23rd Street east to I-35 and get on heading south. Stay on I-35 through the I-40 junction, following the signs toward Dallas, and exit at SE 29th St. Turn left at the end of the ramp and drive east about three and a half miles into Del City. Sunnylane Road is the big intersection with the Walgreens, and we are a few blocks past it at 4715 SE 29th St. Allow around eighteen to twenty minutes. Late at night, with the interstate clear, it usually goes faster.
Flying into OKC? From the terminal, follow Meridian Avenue north and take the ramp for OK-152 East toward I-44 and downtown. Merge onto I-44 East toward Tulsa, then take Exit 120B for I-40 East toward Fort Smith. Stay on I-40 East about eight miles, keeping left where it splits to stay on I-40 and US-270 East. Take Exit 155B toward Midwest City, turn right onto Vickie Drive, and follow it about a mile south. At SE 29th, turn left, and our lot is a few hundred feet ahead on the left. Roughly nineteen minutes and 15 miles without traffic. It is the simplest way to pick up papers, a lighter or a disposable on your way into town, since you stay on the highway until Vickie.
From the medical center campus, take Stanton L. Young Boulevard over to Lincoln Boulevard and head south about seven tenths of a mile. Take the ramp onto I-235 South toward I-35 and I-40, then use Exit 1A on the left to merge onto I-40 East. Keep left to stay on I-40 and US-270 East toward Fort Smith. After about four miles on the interstate, take Exit 155B toward Midwest City. Turn right onto Vickie Drive, go about a mile south, and turn left onto SE 29th. We are a few hundred feet down, on the left. About fourteen minutes and seven miles. It is a good option after a late shift, since we are open until midnight every day.
