Hartsdel is a residential neighborhood south of SE 29th Street, toward the west side of Del City. It came along later than the original Epperly blocks. Some of the homes on Hartsdel Drive date to the early 1970s, when Del City was filling in toward its southern edge at SE 44th Street. The Hartsdel neighborhood watch meets at Sunnylane Family Church on SE 41st, which tells you a lot about where it sits and how settled it is.
For Hartsdel, SE 29th is the main road out. Bryant Avenue runs along the west edge of Del City, and taking it north to 29th, then heading east about a mile, puts you at our door in around five minutes. It is the kind of drive you can make without thinking about it, which is probably why so many of our quick trips come from this direction.
Hartsdel sits south of SE 29th, so every trip from here ends with a right turn onto 29th heading east. You can come up Bryant on the west side or Sunnylane on the east side, depending on which end of the neighborhood you start from. The shop is at 4715 SE 29th St, a few blocks east of Sunnylane, with a parking lot on site.
From Hartsdel Drive, work your way over to S Bryant Ave and turn north. Bryant runs along Del City's western edge, with Oklahoma City on the other side of the road. At SE 29th, turn right and head east about a mile. You cross Sunnylane Road at the Walgreens corner, then go a few more blocks to 4715 SE 29th St. About five minutes and a mile and a half. The right turn from Bryant onto 29th is easy most of the day, though it can stack up at the evening rush.
From the church on SE 41st, where the Hartsdel neighborhood watch meets, head east the short way to Sunnylane Road and turn left to go north. It is about three quarters of a mile up Sunnylane to SE 29th. Stay in the right lane, turn right onto 29th, and go a few blocks east to 4715. Around four minutes and a little over a mile. This is the quickest way in from the east half of Hartsdel, and it skips the Bryant intersection entirely.
SE 44th and Bryant is the southwest corner of Del City. From there, take Bryant north about a mile to SE 29th. Turn right and drive east about a mile, across Sunnylane, to 4715 SE 29th St. Plan on six or seven minutes and roughly two and a half miles. Bryant is a straight, simple drive with few surprises, and late at night it is usually quiet the whole way up.
From the southeast side of the neighborhood, Sunnylane is your road. At SE 44th, head north on Sunnylane about a mile. You pass SE 41st, with Sunnylane Family Church just off to the west, on the way up. At SE 29th, turn right and go a few blocks east to the shop. Around four to five minutes and roughly a mile and a half. At rush hour the light at 29th and Sunnylane is the spot most likely to back up, so leave a minute extra.
Townsend Elementary sits on Epperly Drive, just across Sunnylane from Hartsdel. From the school, take Epperly Drive a short way north and turn right onto SE 37th Street. Go about a third of a mile east to Vickie Drive and turn left. Vickie runs north about half a mile, past Taco Bell on your right, to SE 29th. Turn right, and our lot is a few hundred feet ahead on the left. About four minutes and a mile. Coming up Vickie means you reach the shop without ever waiting at the Sunnylane light, which is handy on weekday evenings when that corner fills up.
If you are west of Hartsdel on the Oklahoma City side, near SE 44th and Eastern Avenue, start by heading north on Eastern about six tenths of a mile. Turn right onto SE Grand Boulevard and follow it a little under a mile until it meets SE 29th. Turn right onto 29th and stay on it heading east about 1.8 miles. You cross Bryant Avenue into Del City, then Sunnylane Road, and pass Advance Auto Parts on the left. We are just past Vickie Drive on the north side. Around seven minutes and 3.3 miles. Grand Boulevard is a wide, easy road, and it saves you from zigzagging over to Bryant on side streets.
